Lakewood Industries now offers part number Lakewood 15315, a SFI approved safety bellhousing for the 5.7L Hemi as 273-360 V8 engines. Designed to accept the popular tremec TKO 500/600 series 5-speed transmission. Lakewood supplies the SFI 6.1 rated bellhousing, safety block plate and all necessary mounting fasteners. The SFI specification applies to containment bellhousings for use with SFI 1.1 and 1.2 single and dual disc clutches assemblies for naturally aspirated vehicles.

Many racers and street performance enthusiasts incorrectly install their transmission with the critical T.V. cable used to set internal line pressure and part throttle shifting either left
disconnected or improperly adjusted. The result – total transmission melt down often
within a matter of a few miles. The TCI® 700R4 Constant Pressure Valve avoids all
those problems.
In the past, the T.V. cable adjustment on GM 700R4 transmissions required near-expert
mechanical abilities. Installation of the TCI® 700R4 Constant Pressure Valve Body
avoids common transmission destruction by maintaining at least 200psi line pressure at
all times. While the T.V. cable still needs connection for proper transmission operation,
the TCI® 700R4 Constant Pressure Valve provides more freedom when setting part
throttle shift points. Line pressure is fixed with no chance of encountering a low line
pressure condition.

Ford’s 5.4L is becoming the performance choice for many performance Mustang builders, replacing the 4.6L engine as the larger displacement provides more power, but without a performance intake manifold the transplant is one step short. Superchips introduces their newest product, Tirepaq for Ford applications, Superchips 1846. This amazing device works just like the Superchips FlashPaq. It plugs into the vehicle OBDII port and allows the user to recalibrate his/her speedometer for larger or smaller tire sizes or gear swaps. The Ford FlashPaq 1846 for Ford gas trucks and SUVs and Ford diesel trucks also calibrates for tires from 26″ to 38″ and a wide range of gear ratios including 3.08, 3.31, 3.55, 3.73, 4.10, 4.30, 4.56, 4.88, and 5.13. TirePaqs for GM diesel trucks and Dodge vehicles will be released soon. The Tirepaq can also be used as a scan tool that can read and clear diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs or “check engine” lights). Tirepaq will tune your shifting to compensate for those tire and gear changes to keep your ride driving smoothly.

Recent dyno testing at Adrenaline Autosports, in Chatsworth, CA, on a mildly built Ford 302, fitted with stock 289 heads, revealed incredible results. Baseline numbers with a 600-cfm Holley carb and no spacer produced 218.57 rear wheel horsepower at 5500 rpm with 252.97 ft-lbs. of torque. The carb was switched to a 680-cfm QFT street carb, manufactured with a Proform® carb main body, and one pull was made with each of the three variations of Proform 1-inch phenolic spacers supplied in their Trackside Carb Spacer kit.
The wide open spacer proved to be the most efficient for this engine, producing a whopping 244.62 rear wheel horsepower with 276.55 ft-lbs. of torque, equating to a 12% HP increase and , a 9% torque increase. That’s a gain of 26.5 horsepower and 23.58 ft-lbs. of torque with only a carb change and spacer install. We broke down the numbers for the spacer only, and this simple change resulted in an increase of 14 rear wheel horsepower and 9 ft-lbs. of torque. Incredible! and the 3-in-1 spacer kit is under $80. Now that’s a low cost power adder producing astounding results!

By simply changing the carb and adding the Proform 67160C spacer to this engine, we gained increased throttle response, realized the full power band of the engine, and at wide open throttle it felt like it would never stop pulling. That, coupled with the horsepower and torque increase, makes this combination a winner on street or strip.
